This morning, I sat down with Liz Reitzig—raw milk advocate, policy bulldog, and one of the most passionate food freedom voices out there—for an hour-long conversation that stretched from land use to mental health to fertilizer dependence.
One theme kept rising to the surface: curiosity.
We talked about how essential it is—not just in farming, but in life. The best farmers I know are the ones still asking questions, still testing, still learning. Because ag isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being willing to try. To fail. To try again.
Trial and error. Over and over. Every single year.
At one point, I said, “It feels like we’re all standing on the edge of a cliff arguing about the view … when what we really need to do is move forward.”
Liz didn’t miss a beat: “You mean off the cliff?”
I laughed. “Yeah, that’s a terrible analogy.”
Maybe it was a metaphor. I always mix those up. Like I said—thinking on the spot is hard.
That’s why I write.
We didn’t script it. We didn’t polish it. But we showed up.
Whether you’re a farmer, a consumer, or just someone wondering what the hell is happening in food and farming right now—this is a conversation worth hearing.
We’re calling it the first of many. Tune in. Ask questions. Be curious.
Let me know what hit home in the comments.
Many thanks to , , , , , and everyone else who tuned in live.
We’ll be back next Tuesday with more. Join us in the Substack app.
