Editing my book proved to be the biggest challenge and actually fun for me. Who doesn't love chicken fingers? I have no interest in being on a shrimping boat, but who knows what the future holds? I've been doing things I never thought I'd be doing, so there's hope, I guess. Better question, what's your next step in 2024? I look forward to reading your blog and learning a little about farming.

Oof, 2024. I guess the next step is one foot in front of the other and the goal is to keep going and trying to stay with right now instead of wondering what comes next?

Maybe that's what we all struggle with idk can I get back to you on that after I ponder it for the next seven and a half days?

How hard was it to complete a book? It's something I've wanted to do forever but still seems too large to wrap my head around. 2024, maybe?

Also, thank you so much for reading. I appreciate the heck out of it. Happy new year!

That depends on what type of book you want to write. I'm writing a post-apocalyptic romantic thriller. Took me a year and a bit to outline and write one good enough for an editor to read. But I'm a newbie. I learn as I write and with each learning experience, my writing improves. It's kind of like having kids—the first one is the learning curve. The second kid theoretically should be easier. I'm writing my second book, so I'm hoping this means it'll take less time to finish. Fiction or non-fiction?

Logic tells me it should work that way. I've always found rebuilding something like an engine goes much faster the second time around after you've got it all together but forgot to tighten that one bolt so you go back to the beginning all flustered and pissed off but then it goes quicker because you've already done the steps once so your brain knows what to do without thinking...ya know?

Oof, that was a mouthful. Enjoy your day!

What was your biggest challenge in 2023?

Returning to college as an old fart with two kids, a huge farm, and 1 billion less brain cells than 2005.

Do you like chicken fingers?

Loaded question…. Yes, but they gotta be crispy and look like actual pieces of meat and not chicken faces. Oh and ranch much be involved. One more, my guts aren’t on the page of affinity for chicken fingers.

Would you spend five years on a shrimpin’ boat if it meant fulfilling a lifelong dream?

I would if after bein on that shrimpin boat for five years remained my lifelong dream. I’ve learned the very hard way that dreams change and adaptations have to be made. My dreams have changed as my dreams for my loved ones have become more important. New motto, keep on trucking and do what makes you happy.

What’s your favorite Sopranos episode?

You know it. Oh dear sweet “Pine Barrens”.

Have you learned how to eat things like Shepherd’s Pie late at night while avoiding the burning heart? Don’t lay down asap or avoid tummy troubles by surviving on rice crispies. Maybe that’s not the best suggestion…… or maybe it is?

If you answered yes to question five, can you share your findings with your humble newsletter narrator? Long winded answer to a yes or no question…typical Megan. Please refer back to question 5.

Keep these newsletters in my inbox or I’ll get the wooden spoon. As a pessimist, giggling out loud in public doesn’t happen, as im sure you know quite well, but this brings much needed giggles, smiles, and pride.

Forgot to say, if I made a promise to Bubba, you damn well believe I’d stay on that boat.
